ACTION ALERT: Decision Day for H.Res.252 - the Armenian Genocide Resolution

For Immediate Release: December 22, 2010

NEW YORK –The Cyprus Action Network of America (CANA) is calling on all activists to call for a vote today on the Armenian Genocide resolution H.Res. 252. With the U.S. House set to adjourn today, the next few hours will likely be the last chance for Speaker Pelosi to schedule a vote to allow a bipartisan majority to vote for the adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution, H.Res.252.

Encourage the House Democratic leadership to schedule the Armenian Genocide Resolution for a vote, and ask your Representative to vote YES on this human rights measure.

Below is a statement from Panos Ioannides President of the Movement for Freedom and Justice in Cyprus, directly followed by directions CANA is providing from the Armenian National Committee of America ANCA on how to call your US representatives.

 The non party political “Movement for Freedom and Justice for Cyprus ”  joins all Greeks and Greek Cypriots in America , in calling on the U.S. House to pass without further delay the Armenian Genocide Resolution, H. Res. 252.

The Armenian Genocide is a Turkish crime against humanity that needs to be addressed head on.

The United States of America have the long standing duty to resolve in recognition of this Turkish atrocity against human rights, human dignity and freedom.

Turkey must stand accountable to ALL its past and present actions including the continued for 37 years barbaric invasion and internationally illegal occupation of half the territory of the Republic of Cyprus .”
