NEW YORK—The Cyprus Action Network of America (CANA) continues the distribution of articles and opinions by our grass roots activists, reflecting the movement of young Hellenic-Americans that are inspired in building a new dawn of enlightened and assertive Hellenism that will challenge the institutional revisionism of our opponents in all spheres of political life for all lands that belong to Hellenes—Cyprus, Macedonia, Pontos and Thrace.
Theoharis Kekis is a Boston-based CANA activist who has participated in CANA public actions, he provides us a Pontian perspective based on his own original research and activism, and largely from theories and analysis provided by Hellenic intellectual Michalis Charalambidis, in the rare landmark book “The Pontian Question In The United Nations”, available for purchase exclusively from Cyprus Action Network of America (CANA) www.cyprusactionnetwork.org
Born in Boston, MA, Theoharis Kekis is 27 years old. He has graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with bachelors and masters degrees in Electrical Engineering in 2003 and 2005 respectively. Theoharis’ father is Arcadian from Piraeus with ancestry from the island of Spetses, with a relation to John Kolias, martyr in the revolutionary war, and to the brothers Stamatios and John of the Three Spetsiotes, Neomartyrs of the Ottoman Yoke:

Theoharis’ Mother is Pontian from Katerini with ancestry from Kotyora and Trapezous, Pontos. His great-grandmother was involved in the guerilla movement in the mountains of Trapezous during the Pontian Genocide, after which she and her future husband, who was later killed by the communists in Greece after the civil war, were transferred to Greece during the population exchange of 1923. Theoharis is also a member of the Hellenic Pontian Society Panagia Soumela of Boston.
